| ColorFix rev 1.2ß |
=====================
Introduction:
-------------
ColorFix is a little commodity that will force a palette on your WB.
This palette is specialy optimized in order to please all your envies with
full colored icons thanks to a palette of 192 colors very nice for faces or
any other very colored things.
This palette is also fully compatible with MagicWB (1.0 and 2.0) so you can
keep your MWB's icons without any problems and also your backdrops and patterns.
Let's talk about these backdrops, this palette let you install any backdrop
with any palette limited to 64 colors max without spoiling your wonderful
icons in 192 colors.
And more, this palette will also be used in the future by MELINA SOFTWORKS
for the GUI of their software on WB (we can also have pretty GUIs as Windoze 95)
ColorFix is also fully compatible with NewIcon but only with the 16 colors icons.
When I say 64 colors, it means between 0 and 64 colors of course, that's why
there is no problems with MWB's Backdrops because they are in 8 colors.
Differents possibilities for you:
- one backdrop in 64 colors
- one backdrop in 32 colors and one pattern in 32 colors for the windows.
- try to find yourself ;-))
What usage ?
------------
Keep cool, it is absolutly not usefull but if you ask yourself this question,
I can ask you the usage of MagicWB or MUI (maybe MUI...).
This command serves only to make your WB look cuter than normally by installing
icons in 192 colors with no size limits and backdrops in 64 colors which will
have a very better and attractive look.
Can Windoze do it ?
And this without a graphic board and on any screen in any screenmode !
Why this and not MagicWB ?
--------------------------
No need of a graphic board for this miracle.
And it's also really less sad and more colorfull.
Which machine for a good usage ?
--------------------------------
This system is for any AGA Amiga (1200/4000) with ROM 3.xx and WB 3.xx.
A 68020 with 2 Mb is needed but for better usage, a best processor and a little
more RAM is recommended.
(It's very comfortable on a 030 and 4 Mb and it's luxious on a 060 !!)
Installation :
--------------
ColorFix is supplied with an installation script that will copy automatically
all the files to their own place but for the anxious, here is the list of the
files:
-copy of ColorFix to Sys:WBStartup
-copy of PaletteTWB to SYS:Prefs/Presets
ATTENTION: set your WB to a 256 colors screen !!!!!!!
Help me !!!
-----------
Although all his advantages, ColorFix has some little faults, here is a list
of resolved problems:
-Q: When one of my used program closes the WB, the Amiga crashes.
-A: That's an important problem, we haven't yet succed to solve this so if
you have enough memory, you are encouraged to not close your WB or if you
need to close it, you can close ColorFix with Exchange (don't forget, it's a
Commodity now :-))
And if I want to make my own icon collection ?
----------------------------------------------
How a good idea, for that, you will have to use a icon editor which support
256 colors and so I recommend you ICONIAN v.1.98ß from CHAD RANDALL which is
the best for creating icons for the Twilight Improvement System, maybe more
than the newer versions.
We will also release as soon as possible a pack in order to make icons and
backdrops for Twilight easyly.
To realize good looking icons, use a classic paint software as DPaint or PPAINT,
load the palette of Twilight (SYS:WBStartup/PaletteTWB) and draw a picture in
the good size and the good screenmode.
Then save it as a brush and load it into Iconian (or something else).
IMPORTANT: Be careful with Iconian because he uses the current palette of your
WB but if you have a backdrop and/or a pattern, you'll see that their palette
is in the blackhole we have made in Twilight's palette so you HAVE TO unload
your backdrop and your pattern and reload Twilight's palette in order to
only use it. This is really IMPORTANT.
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:
====================
To realize icons for Twilight, you have to know that there are some colors
which are ABSOLUTELY FORBIDEN !!!
Here are these colors (for a pallette from color 0 to 255):
- color 0 (soft gray) which can be replaced by color 21
- color 1 (black) which can be replaced by color 27
- colors from 188 (included) to 251 (include), (black, reserved space) which
can be replaced by color 27
- try to avoid using colors 3 and 4 (can cause problems).
To release backdrops, take any one you want, he only have to be in 64 colors
max.
If you have a more colored one, try to reduce its palette with programms like
PPaint, DPaint, ImageFX, ...
This can make good results (see the pictures in the bonus pack :-))
For a palette optimization with ImageFX, you should do this:
- go to the render module
- select your screenmode
- in "Dither Options", set EDD, Zig-Zag, Medium
- render and save it in ILBM
Know that if you make a good icon collection, you can send it to us, it will
enjoy us and if we have some good new things, we would send it to you :-)
If you release your collection (on Aminet for example) you MUST include
ColorFix in the pack as it is on the distribution disk (you just have to copy
the drawer in your pack).
Finally :
---------
Here we are, you know all you have to about ColorFix, I hope this command
would please you and if you have any comment or suggests, you can contact me
here:

ColorFix is absolutly FREEWARE and you have right to distribute it as you
want but only if no financial profit are made on it.
If you want to realize a programm that use this palette for his GUI on WB,
you can and it is not necessary to ask us for a permission (it's yes in
advance !) even for commercial softwares, but if you could just say it to
us, we would be very gratefull :-)
IN ANY CASE, THE AUTHOR OR MELINA SOFTWORKS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES
CAUSED BY A BAD USE OF THIS PROGRAMM !!!
